This is the first update in highly detailing most of the steps in building a model kit. I’ve chosen this kit because its one that I had that was sealed and I found it interesting to look at.
Somebody got this model kit on sale at K-Mart for $8! What a great deal. Who remembers Kmart! Blue light special!
Here’s everything that comes in the model kit. The parts photograph blue, but they are a deep purple. Time to stock up on alot of gray primer.
You also get one of those Revell card catalog inserts. I want to get a binder and see how many different ones I can get. I’ve built that L-88 Corvette and ’69 Camaro RS kits before. Both went together pretty well from what I remember.
How many kits do you build in a year? The last few years I’ve not done much art at all. Here’s to that changing. I always found it odd that you had to pay for a catalog that lets you buy things and spend more money.
The instructions sheet is pretty standard for the time. There is a brief history of the car on the front.
Only one set of tyres included in this kit.
A few chrome parts in this kit. The chrome has faded some, but its not yellowed.
The clear parts not included in a bag. I know, the horror!
The body has some signs of dirt or smudges and some scratches.
The main body looks kind of whobbly. We shall see later on how it all fits together.
Only a few decals come with this kit. The red logo is faded some. The Sting Ray logos in purple don’t’ look like they were printed very well. Might have to skip them. Wish there were light and dark variations of these.
This has been a basic overview of whats included in the kit. Check back later for more updates on this project.
