Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot – Star Wars Command Army Men Toy

Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot – Star Wars Command Army Men Toy

The Star Wars Command army men toys Death Star Strike pack certainly has a lot of fun figures in it. Here are two Imperial pilots I’m working on painting. Much like the Rebel pilots it’s a bit weird to have a pilot army man figure since you’d figure they’d get their butts kicked pretty quickly and should be flying.

Sadly unlike the Rebel’s there is only one pose for this guy. And he is in the classic Terminator “Come with me if you want to live” pose. This pose is odd because its more something that the Rebels would do offering peace over sheer fire power. So if I were making the toys or anybody with a half a mind of what Star Wars is about would have the Empire’s troops with guns blazing.

I decided that I did not want a simple all black figure as the way the toy came and as shown in the movie. I painted the first figure a sort of pavement color to help add separation between the different articles of his attire. The second figure I wanted to make a bomber pilot variation. I think the shuttle pilots wore dark grey outfits and that was my inspiration. – More updates coming soon as I finish these up.

If I get some more of these I want to make a Rebel version of the Imperial Pilot and a Imperial version of the Rebel pilot with the colors and insignias switched. That one scene in Star Wars always bugged me when we saw the Imperial pilots follow Darth Vader in the Death Star. They looked so short like they were teenagers or something. Hardly imposing at all. Bad casting choices there George.
